Kalā Watch Co. is back after a brief pause. Its Warli Chronograph returns to kalawatches.com at 7 PM IST today, and if the last round is anything to go by, it will not stay in stock for long.

Folk art, on a chronograph

The idea is simple and charming: take Warli, the folk painting tradition of Maharashtra, and put it on a sporty chronograph. A small group of Warli dancing figures sits next to the Kalā logo, spiral motifs stand in for most of the hour markers, and a ring of triangles circles the dial like a painted border. The dial is signed Warli Art Edition.

Underneath the art, it is a proper two-register chronograph: a small seconds dial on the left, a 24-hour dial on the right, two pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock and a tachymeter scale around the edge. It comes on a leather strap with contrast stitching.

The colours

The last round came in three dials. Terracotta pairs a warm brown dial with cream and rust sub-dials. Panda is a white dial with one black sub-dial and red accents. Reverse Panda flips that: a black dial, a white 24-hour register and red hands.

New: magenta and haldi

Two Kalā Warli Chronographs side by side: magenta, with pink-red accents on a white dial, and haldi, with turmeric-yellow accents on a white dial
The new magenta (left) and haldi colours.

Ahead of this drop, two new colours have been seen, and they are the most playful Warli dials yet. Magenta puts a hot pink-red border, numerals and 24-hour dial on a white sunray dial, with matching pink stitching on a black strap. Haldi, named after turmeric, swaps that for a soft golden yellow, warmer and quieter, on a black strap with cream stitching. Both keep the Warli figures and spiral markers. Check the Kalā site at 7 PM for exactly which colours are on sale.

Price, and how to get one

The last round was priced from ₹7,499 and sold out fast. Kalā has not confirmed this round’s prices yet, so treat ₹7,499 as a guide. Our advice: be on kalawatches.com a few minutes before 7 PM, signed in, with your delivery address and payment ready, and know which colour you want before the page goes live.

Our take

Few watches at this price tell a story this clearly. The Warli Chronograph is fun, very Indian, and still a useful everyday chronograph. If one of these dials speaks to you, set an alarm.
