Boderry’s Falcon Canteen puts a titanium case, a solar-powered movement and a chained canteen crown into a 43 g field watch, and it is on at a launch price of $139 (regular $179), about ₹13,275 before duty.

What it is

The Falcon Canteen is a 37 mm solar-powered watch from Boderry, offered with a Field dial (Arabic numerals) and a Dive dial (triangle and block markers). Both come in a titanium case on an elastic nylon parachute strap, in a case just 11 mm thick and 43 g on the wrist.

Why it is worth a look

Solar quartz. An Epson VS42A movement that charges from light, runs for about 12 months on a full charge and is rated to ±20 seconds a month. No winding, no battery changes.

That crown. A screw-down canteen crown, diamond-knurled to match the case sides, with a retaining chain that gives the watch its name and its look.

A solid caseback. The titanium caseback is solid, engraved with a falcon and marked 100 m, so the watch is built for knocks and water, not for showing off a movement.

The price in India

Boderry lists the watch at a launch price of $139, down from $179, with free international shipping and import duty left to the buyer. At roughly ₹95.5 to the dollar, that is about ₹13,275 at the launch price and about ₹17,095 at the regular price. If customs charge up to 38% on a parcel, a figure one Indian buyer paid on a watch this year, the duty would be about ₹5,044, bringing the landed cost to about ₹18,319. Duty depends on how your parcel is declared and delivered, so treat that as a ceiling.

The catch

This is a direct-from-brand order, so expect a wait for shipping and customs. We did not find an Indian retailer or service centre for Boderry, so check the warranty terms on Boderry’s page before you buy. We also found no end date for the launch price, so it may change without warning.
