A limited run named for a city’s first name, with the whole city engraved on the back.
Ahmedabad Watch Company’s first release, the Karnavati Founders Edition, is named for the city’s ancient Gujarati name. It is limited to 333 numbered pieces, and pre-order reservations opened on Thursday, 23 July 2026 at 6 p.m. IST.
The dial
The brand describes the dial as a Tree of Life inspired by Ahmedabad’s Sidi Saiyyed Jali, the carved stone lattice of the city’s famous mosque. The tree is engraved in fine, flowing detail across a silver-toned dial, under blue hands and a slim seconds hand, with the maker’s name running along the edge. A blue embossed-leather strap picks up the hands.
The caseback
Turn the watch over and the story continues. The engraved caseback shows a kite, a pair of Garba dancers, a map of Gujarat, an Asiatic lion and a city gateway, with the Gujarati names of Ahmedabad and Karnavati and the city’s coordinates, 23°01’37″N 72°34’52″E. It also credits the design to Kriansh, carries the edition number (LE 11/333 on the example we saw) and a mark reading WAI, Watch Association of India.
The brand calls the Karnavati a designed timepiece rooted in India’s living heritage. It describes its first collection as still in development and says it will contact people who register interest personally when the first pieces are ready. Future pieces, it says, will be strictly limited and inspired by Indian dynasties and classical arts.
